Puzzle 9: There is vending machine. Orange, Apple, Oracle/Apple. And all of them have wrong label. How to find the correct machine in one attempt?
Show Solution
Solution:
a) Take a fruit from (box1) orange/apple -> let it be orange.. as it is wrongly labeled it can never be orange/apple. So it is Orange.
b) So the remaining two boxes (box1 and box2) can be either orange/apple or apple.
c) The apple box (say box2) can never be apple itself as it must be wrongly labeled. So it is Orange/apple. So the final box (box3) will be apple.
You only need one coin placed in the orange/apple machine (O/A) machine. If it dispenses, lets say, an apple (A). Then you know this is the Apple machine. By elimination you know that the machine labelled A, dispenses only oranges (O) as it is mislabeled, and the machine labeled O dispenses only apples (A).
ReplyDeleteThis is not a good solution. Its ambigous. O/A machine cannot be verified by just dispensing one coin. how is it verified its O/A machine by just getting one orange or one apple from it??? This is no solution
